USES AND IMPORTANCE OF WATER
As the saying goes “Water is Life”, one cannot live without utilizing water. Water is just like a body with blood flowing through it, immediately the blood stops flowing, it becomes lifeless. One cannot do without water being a part of their lives and also benefit from using it.
Water is used for domestic use. Domestics relates to the running of various household chores to ensure that the house is clean, neat and healthy for living. For instance, in every house, water is used for cooking, washing, cleaning and other various household chores to help improve living. As we can see below, these people are making good use of water in their various lives to maintain good food, good health and a good living.
Plants also need water for photosynthesis and also for its growth. During the ancient times in Egypt, farmers used their hands to collect water from the river Nile to water their plantation until the emergence of industrialization where they were able to invent a shaduf which helped to fetch and transfer water from the river Nile to the farms in order to help for its growth. After civilization, other methods have been put in place to water plants using lakes, rivers, and other water bodies to irrigate the soil to help the plants grow fruits and other foods for human and animal consumption. Below shows some images of how plants are being watered.
Animals drink from water bodies for survival. As humans need water to survive, so do animals also need it for survival. Some animals such as cows, sheep, pigs, dogs and goats rely on these water bodies such as the lakes, rivers and other water bodies for hydration any time they are dehydrated. These animals are sometimes led by herdsmen or go to these water bodies themselves to drink water. Other animals that live in the water bodies also rely on it for a living as humans also rely on air to live (breathing).
Water is very important and useful not only for humans but living things in general. Let us all make good use of water bodies to help living things survive. When water bodies are polluted, where then will humans and other living organisms find water to help them function as required of them.
Let’s be good citizens and help make the work of the government easy and easy for ourselves as well.
